N.E.x.T. TO YOU: Network for the Empowerment, the social and labour inclusion of Trafficked children and young adults

A quarter of suspected or identified trafficked victims in Europe are minors exploited primarily in the sex industry. Particularly worrying is the condition of minors who arrive in the EU unaccompanied or separated from their families in the context of mixed migration flows.

Launched in December 2020, the EU-funded project Next to You will improve identification and integration efforts in the first- and second-line reception of third-country national minors and young adult victims of human trafficking.

The project is expected to enhance the capacity for detecting unaccompanied minors and to provide direct support to 140 minors and young adults for their socio-economic empowerment and inclusion. The activities envisaged, ranging from ethno-psychological support to training towards economic inclusion and capacity building of stakeholders, are designed to increase the beneficiaries’ resilience and help them overcome trauma, cultural shock, and other psychological consequences of exploitation that hinder their safe and meaningful integration paths.

The consortium, led by Regione Veneto (IT), is made of civil society organizations and institutions from four Member States, including the University of Padua- Human Rights Department (IT), Equality Cooperative Sociale Onlus (IT), Comunità dei giovani di Verona (IT), Fundación Cruz Blanca (ES) Ensa- European network of social authorities (IT), Payoke and France Terre d’Asile (FR).
